Is Squidoo Profitable?

Have you heard of Squidoo? I found this blogging platform after searching for more ways to make money online by writing at home. Upon the initial discovery I read many stories of wild success, so I was quick to sign up and try it out.

For about six months I have had an account on Squidoo. It is supposed to be a profitable online blogging platform. Squidoo partners with other online entities by providing affiliate links to Amazon, eBay, Zazzle, CafePress, Etsy, and so much more allow writers to earn commissions when sales are made.

Sounds great, right? Well, to be honest with you I have had a hard time with Squidoo. I like to see results quickly…but I think this platform is more of a long-term thing. I enjoy writing “lenses” as they are called on Squidoo, but I quickly lost interest after I first signed up.

Well, Squidoo didn’t forget about me! Thankfully I have decided to take part in a training session of sorts called “RocketSquids Bootcamp.” It is great because I’m learning how to use the platform better and how to make more profitable lenses. This past week we were directed to create a product review.

If there's one thing I know, it's horses and horseback riding!

Product review articles are the most profitable because you can provide direct links to the products in a professional-looking manner. My article focused on the Best Horse Supplements in my opinion and experience. You can check out my product review here and let me know what you think, any honest feedback is appreciated!

Although the point of this type of article is to sell a product and earn a commission, I don’t really feel like I am a  sales person so to speak. I just wrote about supplements because I felt that I could give an honest review of the products I mentioned.

Have you tried Squidoo? If not, would you?

  1. I have tried Squidoo and I’m currently loving it. It’s a professional system and form of presenting information. I’ve found it’s a great place for me to publish my essays. As for profitable… No, I’ve seen nothing yet. But as you said I think it’s something that requires time and commitment, like most professions and especially with writing. That’s what I think it boils down to. Finding the squidmasters who enjoy writing and want to earn something for it.

I wish you the best of luck with RocketSquid Bootcamp and I hope it gives you the inspiration you need to post lots more lenses.

  2. I just signed up on Squidoo. I’m really pleased with how quickly my lenses are moving up the rankings. I have a friend who uses squidoo. She says that while you can’t live on it all by itself, it is a good way to rake in some extra money. And, the lens once created stays there continuing to bring in money. 🙂 At least I hope. I only have two lenses so far. Thanks for sharing your story.

  3. I signed up with Squidoo back in 2008 and lost interest of it quick. Now I’m back and addicted to it. No I haven’t earned anything yet with Squidoo but it is a great way to create backlinks to my blogs.

  4. I tried Squidoo and wrote a couple of reviews. But really didn’t get the hang of it. I should go back and give it some more effort.

    • I now have received two paychecks, both small but the second was double the amount of the first one. I am looking forward to my third payment (details at My Squidoo Payout(s): Countdown to Financial Freedom –

You can see all my “lenses” aka “articles at I’m hopeful that the next two pay outs will be substantially higher because they include lenses that ranked higher and represent a better quality of writing. The first two payouts were from my early efforts and my writing and my articles have improved.

But Willow Wood is correct; you do have to work at it and it is not something that produces instant results.
