Noticed Strange Animal Behavior Before an Earthquake?

Here is an interesting article regarding animals and earthquakes. My interest in this relationship was sparked when we had a moderate earthquake in Virginia last week. In the moments before and during the first earthquake, my animals were acting erratically. The dogs were barking and whining, begging to be let outside. The cats were not where to be found. The parakeets were squawking and fluttering around in their cage. In the subsequent aftershocks we have experienced over the past week, I have also observed a behavioral change in my dogs; specifically, my female puppy Sage. She seems especially sensitive to things that are different or changing.
